A group of LUSDA Members was invited to visit the Accademia di Danimarca, located near Villa Borghese, for a tour of the historic facilities, workshops, and the library. The Academy awards scholarships to Danish artists who study subjects like Architecture, Ancient History, Archaeology, and Art History as well as other subjects relating to the long-standing diplomatic relationship between Italy and Denmark.
We had the honor of visiting the library, the auditorium, and many of the residents’ common areas. We also learned about the significance of the historic building, designed by Kay Fisker, and the design elements that evoke a sense of hygge, or coziness, through low ceilings and wood elements to remind the residents of home.
