LUSDA had the honor of being hosted at the U.S. Embassy to the Holy See, celebrating 40 years of diplomatic relations between the United States and the Vatican in 2024. During our insightful meeting with Ambassador Joe Donnelly, we discussed several key topics. Ambassador Donnelly shared his career journey from serving as Senator of Indiana to becoming the U.S. Ambassador to the Holy See. He highlighted his constructive collaboration with the Pope and addressed pressing global issues, including the conflicts in Ukraine and Gaza. The conversation also touched on the upcoming U.S. elections, with a focus on key swing states, as well as achievements under President Biden's administration, such as crime rate reduction and inflation stabilization. Ambassador Donnelly also reflected on his collaboration with President Biden during the post-2008 recession and the implementation of the Affordable Care Act, and we explored the influence of Donald Trump’s speeches on electoral outcomes.
