Meeting with Romanian Diplomats, Mr. Ovidiu Pufu and Ms. Luiza Pufu

LUSDA had the great pleasure of meeting Yesterday we had the great pleasure of meeting meeting with Romanian Diplomats, Mr. Ovidiu Pufu (Minister-Counsellor) and Ms. Luiza Pufu (Diplomatic Counsellor) at the Romanian Embassy to Italy.
They provided us with a very interesting overview of some of Romania’s priorities in terms of diplomatic work – the security issue in the light of Russia’s war in Ukraine, the support to Moldova and the need to continue to build resilience. We were also introduced to the Three Seas Initiative which aims to develop cooperation between twelve EU member states bordering the Baltic, Adriatic and Black Seas. Moreover, we discussed Romania’s further EU integration with Schengen and the Eurozone being two objectives.
In addition, we were informed about the bilateral relations between Italy and Romania, both in terms of their extensive bilateral trade and Italian investments in Romanian infrastructure.
The meeting ended with an interactive discussion where we further discussed the large Romanian diaspora in Italy, the overall positive view of the EU by Romanian citizens, and the 2024 elections – both for the European Parliament, as well as Romania’s national elections.
